The Design 9/10
Google Pixels are easily some of the best-looking phones available. With the distinct camera visor and premium build quality, the phone feels excellent to hold in the hand. The camera module visor design provides the underrated benefit of the phone not rocking when flat on the table.
The back glass is a soft-touch frosted glass material, which feels great in the hand. The side rails of the phone are polished aluminum, which makes the phone look more premium; however, they are prone to fingerprints.
The phone has a beautiful 6.3-inch display, which I find to be a perfect size for me personally, alongside an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate and 3300-nit peak brightness.
The Camera 8/10
The Pixel phone camera has been known as a high-quality camera for years, and the Pixel 10 Pro keeps that standard.
Coming from an iPhone camera, there was a learning curve to adjust to the different UI and tendencies of the camera app. There are many more tools to produce a better image, but I would say it lacks the ease of taking a quick, high-quality image the same way the iPhone does.
When switching to 50MP image quality, the phone has a delay to process the high-res image, so it may not look the best until the brief camera processing is complete. This can be annoying sometimes—for example, when taking pictures of a live event, you could take a shot and have to wait to see if it came out the way you wanted, missing out on a second chance.
When turning on RAW mode, taking a picture provides two versions: a processed image and a RAW image. That is nice for being able to edit an image more accurately without affecting the main image.
Generally, the camera is great once you get used to it. The 5x zoom stood out to me as much better than I expected while keeping great image quality. There are so many adjustable settings you can change to adapt the camera to your taste, which gives it a high rating from me, once you learn what everything is.
Other nice features to mention: Camera coach, angle leveller, Add Me, and Magic Editor.
The Software 10/10
Android has been making large strides in improvements over the last couple of years, and this Pixel OS is the culmination of that. The Pixel OS stands out against other skins of Android by being simple and clean: no bloatware, native Google app optimisation, great Gemini features, and great customisation opportunities.
There has been little for me to complain about. The only two things I would say need improvement are the alarm volume and Google Pay. On Pixel software you can adjust volumes for individual aspects such as alarm, notification, call, and so on, but the problem with this is that for some reason the alarm volume keeps getting adjusted lower, so if you are not careful it may be set to zero and you miss your alarm.
My problem with Google Pay is that I feel there is too much of a delay when it is held to a card reader, which is also very sensitive when you move, compared to Apple Pay, which feels instant. You do not want to be that person in line at TfL who has a problem scanning their card at the gate.
Nice features introduced are Magic Cue, Now Playing, and Live Translate upgrades.
The Battery 9/10
The Pixel has a standard 4870 mAh battery, listed as over 24h of use by Google. Wired charging speed is 30W, and the wireless charging speed is 15W.
The key improvement this year, which is a massive one, is the inclusion of PixelSnap. This is the Pixel iteration of MagSafe, which is arguably one of the best features ever introduced to mobiles, and it is the only Android device that does this.
It may seem like a small addition, but as someone switching over from iPhone, not losing something like MagSafe after having loads of MagSafe accessories makes the switch that much smoother.
TL;DR
The Pixel 10 Pro is an excellent device, which impressed me beyond expectations. Within 10 minutes of use I decided to move from iPhone as my main device to this. I find the Pixel OS to be very enjoyable to use, and I have little to no major gripes about continuing to use this phone as my main device.
